 I want to take a moment to personally endorse Captain Kevin Burns for Sheriff. Kevin has proven himself time and again as a capable, dedicated leader. He has successfully led major incidents and complex operations with professionalism, calm under pressure, and sound judgment.

Kevin is someone I’ve been able to count on, no matter the assignment. He’s committed not only to his own professional growth but also to developing the men and women who serve under him. His leadership extends beyond our walls—he represents our agency on state and local boards, ensuring our values and priorities are heard across New Mexico.

Kevin Burns is a man of integrity who will stand firm in defense of our constitutional rights and will not back down to political pressure from Santa Fe. He understands that the Sheriff’s duty is to serve and protect the people—not to bend to politics.

 I’ve known and worked with Kevin Burns for nearly 20 years. What stands out the most is his genuine commitment to advancing the Sheriff’s Office in order to better serve the community, not for personal power or recognition, but simply to make a positive difference. He’s the kind of leader who steps up, takes on the hard work, and stays focused on what’s best for the organization and the people it serves.  As a former member of the San Juan County Sheriff's Office and a resident of this community, I fully support Kevin’s candidacy for Sheriff and his vision for engaged, forward-thinking leadership.

Throughout my 23 years with the Farmington Police Department, I had the opportunity to work with Kevin in various capacities. In my command-level positions, I could rely on my positive working relationship with Kevin to ensure the needs of both the Farmington Police Department and the San Juan County Sheriff's Office were met, all the while prioritizing community and officer/deputy safety. 

Whether interacting with fellow officers, community leaders, or members of the public, Kevin exhibits the utmost integrity and professionalism. His ability to unite people and work collaboratively towards common goals has significantly bolstered the safety and cohesion of San Juan County.
